Ertalyte

Ertalyte

Ertalyte is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester developed originally in the 1980’s by the company ERTA in Belgium, hence the name Ertalyte. The company is now part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group.

Ertalyte, based on Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET-P) has become one of the important high-performance engineering plastics. It has a remarkable

blend of properties enabling it to replace metals in many applications.

Ertalyte TX is a further development that incorporates a solid lubricant, enabling a lower coefficient of friction and higher PV values, particularly for Bushes & Bearings

Key Properties of Ertalyte

  • Exceptional Wear resistance
  • Low moisture absorption
  • Dimensional Stability for close tolerance parts
  • High Tensile Strength and stiffness
  • Resistant to a wide range of Chemicals
  • Excellent electrical insulating properties

Applications using Ertalyte

  • Precision components, bushes and bearings
  • Wear strips between moving machine parts
  • Rollers, Pulleys in conveyors & printing machines
  • Guide rails, star wheels & scraper blades
  • Electrical Insulators in switchgear & control systems
  • Medical equipment components
