PETG

PETG

PETG is a thermoplastic made from Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol.

It’s a versatile material developed by modern polymer engineering in the 1990’s to make a product with strength, chemical resistance and transparency.

PETG bridges the gap between Acrylic and Polycarbonate, becoming a particularly useful material in Point of Sale displays and Protection Screens.

Available in extruded sheets only. It is easy to cut and fabricate. However, due to its excellent chemical resistance, it is very difficult to glue.

Its impact resistance is approximately half that of Lexan Polycarbonate but much better than Acrylic ( Perspex ). PETG is also biocompatible for use in medical and food contact applications.

Key Properties of PETG

  • Exceptional Clarity and transparency
  • Good Resistance to chemicals at room temperature
  • Highly impact resistant
  • Low toxicity, suitable for use with food products
  • Easy to fabricate, thermoform and heat bend
  • Poor resistance to UV and low temperatures

Applications for using PETG

  • Retail Point of Sale Displays
  • Machine guards and face shields
  • Splash guards and sneeze screens
  • Impact resistant food containers
  • Orthotic and Prosthetic medical devices
  • Safety Screens in Chemical use situations
